Summer tax bills will be mailed out the first week of July and are due per Michigan Statute 211.44 by September 14th. In 2011, the last day to pay summer taxes without incurring any interest or penalty is Wednesday, September 14, 2011. After this date, one percent interest per month will be added to all unpaid tax bills unless a deferment has been granted (MCL 211.905b(11) and 211.59). Winter tax bills will be mailed out the first week of December and are due per Michigan Statute 211.44 by February 14th. The last day taxes are due and payable before being returned as delinquent is February 29th. In 2012, the last day to pay 2011 property taxes before they are returned as delinquent is Wednesday, February 29th.
Tax bills are mailed to the address of record as of June 10th and November 10th of each year. Should you not receive your tax bill, please contact the township office to confirm that we have your correct mailing address on file. Per Michigan Statute (MCL 211.44), failure to receive a tax bill does not abate late payments and penalties.
